Positive Long Term Results Shown with Homeschooling

I came across an article recently on the internet regarding the long term effects of homeschooling. For those of you who are using home school curriculum to homeschool your children, or for those who were homeschooled themselves, I think you will find the results quite pleasing.

The study was conducted by Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home education Research Institute. He studied 7000 adults who were homeschooled over 20 years in both elementary and secondary levels.

Several outcomes were noted including:

  1. almost double the number of those homeschooled attended post secondary colleges than the general US  population,
  2. 95% of graduates from homeschooling are happy that they were homeschooled, and most are or will homeschool their own kids,
  3. homeschooled adults are twice as happy with their lives than the general US population,
  4. most homeschoolers have the same religious beliefs as their parents.
  5. few think politics and government are too hard to understand, whereas 1/3 of the general US population do, and 3 times the number vote.
