Classroom

plans.
Teachers Falling
Behind Technology in the Classroom
Today’s technology savvy youth may
actually know more about computers and how they work
than the ones trying to teach them. Bringing technology
into the classroom is a vital part of today’s
educational system, but are teachers falling behind? Are
their computer lesson plans uninspired and simply too
easy for the youth that grew up using computers? If so,
they could be missing the point of bringing technology
into the classroom.
The CEO Forum on Education and Technology has come to
the conclusion that with more and more schools bringing
technology into the classroom with computers and
Internet access, teachers must be empowered to use it
effectively. Although investing in computer technology
and Internet connections in schools is vital, without
investing in the teachers, the students still lose. In
addition to educating the educators, inspired computer
lesson plans need to be created that can challenge young
minds.
Teachers are the most critical element in bringing
technology in the classroom. As such, they need to have
access to both quality professional development and
technical support. Training in how to prepare
challenging computer lesson plans that interest both
boys and girls is also a must. After all, if the
educators aren’t educated, how can we expect students to
be prepared for a career in the fast-paced industry of
technology?
