Study the Science of Energy

Energy is all around us and is something that we all heavily rely on. It cooks our food, heats our homes, lights our streets and homes, powers our cars and much more. Although it can be a hard concept to grasp for younger students, it can make for great science lesson plans that not only discuss the concept of energy, but also the challenges we’re going to face in upcoming years if an energy crisis occurs. Elementary education of energy shouldn’t get too in-depth, but should still present important issues surrounding energy. Science lesson plans about energy might spark a healthy interest of the environment.

Science lesson plans can focus on more than just energy. For elementary education, teachers can introduce some big names for study, such as Albert Einstein. Young students can research Einstein and discover how his innovated ideas influenced science in the areas of light, matter and energy.

The science of energy is an almost endless topic of conversation for science lesson plans. Students can not only learn about scientists, such as Einstein, that contributed to our knowledge of energy, but can also learn about what energy is, how it works, costs involved (both environmental and financial), and strategies for conserving energy. Local hydro companies may even provide conservation strategies that students can put into place, such as using energy efficient light bulbs, turning off lights when you leave a room, and more.
